Frequently Asked Questions   General What is new in Jaws PDF Server v5.0 Answer: Refer to the Release Notes, available from the download area of the Jaws PDF web site. Click here to find the Release notes. back to top When running Jaws PDF Server as a service, Why can I only convert files sent from a client machine, when logged on with an administrator account? Answer: This may be a permissions setting with the service. The Jaws PDF service needs Administrative privileges to work. To set this, go into Administrative Tools -> Services -> Jaws PDF Service -> Properties -> Log on. You can then change the JPS service log on to an Administrator account, so the Service will run with the necessary privileges when a normal user logs on. back to top Does Jaws PDF Server process multi-page tiff files? Answer: No. Multi-page tiff files are currently not supported. back to top Why do I get the wrong filename when printing to an x64 Server from Word or Power Point macros? When printing print via macro from Word and Power Point to a virtual printer on an x64 server, the resulting filename will be something like 12-12345.pdf. This name is the temporary file name for incoming jobs, and only occurs when using the macro. There is currently no workaround for this, although it should be fixed in a future update. back to top Why do I get an extra 'unknown.pdf' file generated from Word Macro from an x86 client? An ' Unknown.pdf' file is always generated in addition to the real PDF when you print from Word a x86 client via the macro. One workaround is to have the 'overwrite' option set for the PDF Creator module, such that the ' Unknown.pdf' file always gets overwritten. Alternatively, it should be possible to delete the ' Unknown.pdf' by running a post-processing script. The problem does not happen with Excel or Power Point and not on an x64 client. This should also be fixed in a future update.
